Difficult iteration equation in SMath

Hello,
My compliments for SMath, it's a great program!
I've a question about the possibility of solving an iteration equation with SMath. To calculate a pressure drop of air flow in a part a calculation is set up. The equation tries to solve the speed. A lot of different friction factors are involved, all dependent on Reynolds (and therefore speed). I don't think the calculations itself are very hard, but there will be a lot of variables. A friend of mine did something similar in Excel with Macros.
Is it possible to solve complex iteration equations in SMath? (and is it easier/better than Excel) Are there any examples of iteration equations in SMath? (or with the same structure as SMath)
The exact equation is not yet finished. I'm also a new user in SMath (I've a few hours experience in Mathcad 2001)
Thanks in advance, Gerjan

Hello Gerjan, Try to look in the "Civil Engineering Hydraulics/Fluid Mechanics" under Examples section on SMath Wiki. Regards, Radovan Edited by user 12 April 2012 19:21:32(UTC)

Thanks for your reply. Didn't see the Wiki page before. I found this example, and I think it will help me. I'm happy SMath can do this kind of calculations! I think further questions will arise as soon as I start with the model. Thanks for your help so far, I'll keep you guys informed. Gerjan

I want to calculate pressure losses over a part with different friction factors, length and hydraulic diameter. For each of these factors I want to give a view values. I've tried to put these values in a matrix but I don't know how to define each variable. I also put a serie of data in one matrix, but it has to be square...
dp(v)=0,5*rho*[(f*L)/Dh]*v^2
Pressure loss should be calculated first with f1, L1 and Dh1. And then f2, L2 and Dh2 and so on. A summation should be done to calculate the total pressure losses.
Can anyone give me tips or an example how to do this?

After some practice with help of the tutorials i've completed the calculation. Thanks for your tips!
I made several smath files. Now i want to summarize these. Is there an option to collect variables of different files on one sheet?

Hello Gerjan, Read this file Data files in order to figure out how to exchange data between SMath files. Read also this post - ImportData. ImportData() function has been implemented and I hope the exportData() will be in the next release. Regards, Radovan |
