New Beta SMath Studio 0.98.6398 is available!

Tiny, but powerful mathematical program with WYSIWYG editor and complete units of measurements support.

It provides numerous computing features and rich user interface translated into about 40 different languages. Application also contains integrated mathematical reference book.

Application can be easily extended based on your needs. Built-in Extensions Manager tool allows to get access to hundreds official and third-party resources of the following types: usage examples, plug-ins, SMath Viewer based applications, snippets, interface translations, interactive books, handbooks and tutorials.

Changes introduced in current build

Improvements

  • SS-2442 Trailing Zeros option included into Settings dialog (Tools > Settings... > Calculation);
  • Entries file format improved to support setting of manual title for Dimensions;
  • Operations progress timer improved to pause when evaluation paused.

Corrections

  • SS-2439 Empty file on error while saving prevented;
  • SS-2446 Visualization of breakpoints and active debug statements restored;
  • Using of Insert Function dialog corrected to take Session Profile in account;
  • Settings dialog: fixed keyboard navigation order (top to bottom, left to right);
  • Support for fractional power corrected;
  • Ctrl+\ keystroke restored;
  • Missing plug-ins dialog correctly handles disabled plug-ins now;
  • SS-2370: Answer (set) options removed from Settings dialog.

When I try to change the decimal separator in the Options window and press [OK], then I get an error. I can only recover by pressing [Cancel].

A new portable distribution with Maxima is available (follow the link in my signature).

Based on an update of the Maxima plugin, it's full set of features is back, including the re-direction of integral, limit and sum functions to Maxima. Due to SMath API changes, this was not possible in the release earlier this year. If you use the Maxima features in SMath, I recommend to upgrade.

The Maxima plugin is not yet easy to configure, therefore I recommend to use the ready-to-run portable distribution.

There is a regression in importData. The attached file can't be read correctly. It seems that the decimal separator is ignored at all, no matter to what value it is set.
