Lovely Breather, Wikipedia has deleted the original image from 10 years ago. Mathcad 11 is unbeatable for Breather up to meshing 199. Smath does very good job. Just too bad I can't make a colored plot like the GNU plot Kuen surface. Wht's the trick to make Maxima plot work ? jmgiraud@bell.net

Sometimes the Maxima function Solve can replace the Mathcad solution block, see attachment. What is the problem with Maxima plotting? Please give an example of what you try and how it fails. File Attachment(s): mkraska attached the following image(s): |

I'm puzzled reading the error message "forcibly" ? Does it mean Andrey is no authorized to let Smath users to access Maxima ? No way I could make Breather plot something like the 'Kuen' surface example. You will understand all by reading the attached Smath WS. Cheers, be good ... Jean

As to the error message: Do you use the portable version with maxima? (with everything pre-installed). Closed connection may happen if maxima is crashed. Maxima can access gnuplot 3d functions, for examples have a look at the handbook section 5.1. I can't reproduce the Mathcad plots, there might be translation errors between smath and maxima, but it works for the example from the gnuplot homepage given in the handbook (Kuen's surface, the function does not include hyperbolic functions) At least, the attached sheet gives a starting point.
