sMath Viewer with user-defined functions?

I tried to use the sMath Viewer to create an executable of a calculation that had a user-defined function in it. It compiled but produced no output. Or, more accurately, the output field was empty.
I tried a few things to force it to give an output, such as using the function in another calculation of the form
0+F()=
but I could not get it to produce any output. Does the viewer simply not work with user-defined functions, or am I doing something wrong?
