Hello, Here is a picture from one of my working files. It is strange that the crash will occur if you try to get the symbolical answer on the last expression. Equations are simetrical and and I did not expect the crash of the second one because the first one gave the reusult. Here is the SMath file Primer28-crash.smAgain, the Optimization|None will not cause the crash. Unfortunately, using these equations will cause some crashes again. Could someone try to reproduce this please. Regards, Radovan Edited by user 15 February 2012 01:05:53(UTC)

Radovan,
It works fine for me SMath 0.90 Windows 7 and Optimization->Symbolic. On the last equation of the sm file I inserted the symbolic evaluation -> without it crashing. I added some simple calculation below and it works fine. Maybe SMath 0.91? Does it work with Optimization->Numeric?
Good luck. |

Thank you Ed, I did it on WinXP and still experienced crashes in 0.91, 0.90 regardless of optimization. Here are some screenshots with strange messages or crash on numeric optimization. ... ... Quite surprising but in Ubuntu there is no crashes? Strange thing here is the message about the expressions, but it obtained the results afterwards. Is there any chance that WinXP is obsolete now?. I would not like that. Regards, Radovan Edited by user 11 February 2012 13:26:54(UTC)

Hello, I simply could not believe this I continued on this example in Ubuntu - AND IT WORKED! Just another disappointment regarding roots() - it failed here. I was quite surprised because of the problems on WinXP regarding derivations, Jacobian etc. I gave up many times when there were similar problems like this one - even reported the problems about it. But it worked in Ubuntu! Have no idea what is going on here. Here is the complete file Primer28-ubuntu.smI someone can open this on WinXP and SMath v0.91 without crashing, please let me know - there must be something wrong with my computer then. Regards, Radovan |

Radovan, I tried both files you've uploaded with different optimizations and different localizations - no crashes occurred. Could you please post here the text you see when crash happens?
Regards.

Hello Andrey, I get the hang report from WinXP somehow with the free utility WhatIsHang Here is the report file Crash-Primer8sm.txtFile that causes crash is Primer28-crash.sm. It crashes when the last expression will calculate symbolically. Here is the picture when crashing> Here is the report file Crash-Primer8sm-ubuntu.txtIt crashes at oppening. This is the SMath file: Primer28-ubuntu.smHere is the picture when crashing> If it would not be enough, just let me know what else should I do. Regards, Radovan |
