You need to show log.txt from the \32dfd679-8cfd-483a-b79a-19d5ea838750\1.0.6169.5202 folder but not \32dfd679-8cfd-483a-b79a-19d5ea838750\1.0.6097.39410 After the plugin updated it would be located in another folder. EDIT: You need to remove the plugin and install it again. Edited by user 21 November 2016 15:53:17(UTC)

I'll give another try using a non portable release and see what happens. Best regards Franco

I never understood what is an "Smath portable release" ? Is it a "lap top" different than the PC version ? Or is it a "WI-FI" gadget ? an "Android surface" ?
I'm "thick" about Smath: PC, XP SP3, Smath 5346 Don't worry: My Smath is piece of gold !
Cheers all collabs, Jean.

Portable is... portable; has nothing to do with programs' versions, clouds, internet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portable_application wrote:A portable application, sometimes also called standalone, is a program designed to run on a compatible computer without being installed leaving the computer's configuration information intact. It means, you do not have to run an installer on the machine (that implies you should run it even if you don't have administrator privileges on the machine; in the other hand you might loose some features, like system's file association, etc...) I have tried with a non portable installation and it works fine . I have taken the examples from the Handbook , there is just an error on the differential equation but for now I don't care. What I am interested the most is in knowing if it is possible in Maple to evaluate left and right limits like in Maxima . If yes what is necessary to type to achieve this. @Jean. Portable version is something that allow to run the Maxima plugin and because I use it I have downloaded and used the last one provided by Martin

Found it , it is necessary to use left and right as argument to the limit function to specify a limit from the left or the right side.
Calling Sequence limit(f, x=a, left) limit(f, x=a, right)
from the help on the Maplesoft site.
thanks a lot for your help and sorry for bothering
Franco

Uni, the portable version was something downloadable through a temporary link from Martin, see herewith the message in which this is reported ( in the Maxima Plug-in thread ) : Originally Posted by: mkraska Here is a temporary download link for an updated portable SMath with Maxima ( 150MB ). This is just a temporary solution with problems in SVG graphics display (image region issue) and partly disabled takeover of SMath functions by Maxima (SMath core feature, takeover not allowed any more for certain functions). Yet, this is the most convenient way to use a current SMath version with Maxima. Does not work under Win 10. log.txt (10kb) downloaded 36 time(s).The screenshot of the PlugIn loaded : Best regards Franco

The path to the maple is too long (> 160 bytes). As far as I can see the program (cmaple.exe) may not work properly in this case. Apparently there is a buffer overflow (or something similiar to this) and we get the error message: Quote:23/11/2016 19:46:40 [ERROR] The instruction at 0050f0c5 referenced memory at 31362e30 The memory could not be read from The solution: move SMath Studio folder into several levels above. For now this is the only solution. |

Hi Uni I am trying to use the Maple wrapper to solve symbolically simple equations , I don't need to solve non linear equations , my aim is just to isolate a variable from an equation to avoid to do this manually..it is something that take place quite often while a person is working with formulas and so on . I have done some tests trying to understand why something was not working . The method applied is quite empirical..probably too much and here are the results : log.txt (667kb) downloaded 35 time(s).I don't know if my conclusion is correct for what concern the naming convention that are needed in writing something to feed the Wrapper or the issue is somewhere else. Any suggestion to workaround this issue is welcome, Thanks in advance for your help, best regards Franco
