SMath Studio

SMath Studio box

Tiny, but powerful mathematical program with WYSIWYG editor and complete units of measurements support.

It provides numerous computing features and rich user interface translated into about 40 different languages. Application also contains integrated mathematical reference book.

Free for personal usage! Plans for Organizations are available!

Application can be easily extended based on your needs. Built-in Extensions Manager tool allows to get access to hundreds official and third-party resources of the following types: usage examples, plug-ins, SMath Viewer based applications, snippets, interface translations, interactive books, handbooks and tutorials.

A very useful tool for engineers. Thanks a lot. Keep up the great work. more...

As a civil engineer, over the years I have frequently used MathCAD for not only performing but also documenting calculations. With PTC dropping perpetual licensing, my recommendation to all the junior engineers I train is to give SMath Studio a serious look. While not a turnkey replacement for MathCAD, it provides most of the functionality and power at an incredible price. Already a wonderful program filling a key niche spot between a numerical calculator like Octave, and a CAS like Maxima, the expanding plugin and 3rd party development is on the rise and this project's future keeps getting even brighter. Much consideration must be given by any engineer or business before they settle on a software for adopting into the workflow. Although not open-source in the strictest sense, the development community is similar to what you would find in any first class OSS software project. The current owner of the SMath Project has also agreed to release the source code under open source license should he not be able to continue the project. So do not let the cost (your time) of learning SMath Studio and migrating your MathCAD computation sheets scare you. This project is here to stay. more...

Great free software! I am enjoying watching its progress and use every day for reinforced concrete calculations and client presentations! Hope it gorows well" more...

Please note:
  1. There are some known bugs with Worksheet scrolling - will be addressed soon;
  2. There are some UI issues on environment with high DPI (some Custom plug-ins may not be scaled correctly).
Please use the following to disable high dpi support if required:
    not_dpi_aware.PNG

To all developers:

As you may notice starting from build 0.99.6955 SMath Studio supports high DPI and in order to scale Regions correctly we have to introduce new requirement:
- Plug-in must use SMath.Drawing.Graphics instead of System.Drawing.Graphics everywhere.
or
- All Fonts created by the plug-in must have GraphicsUnit.Pixel specified as a unit and size must be multiplied by 96f / 72f in order to convert Points to Pixels.

All existing plug-ins should be updated according to this requirement as everything looks ok while system is configured to have use 96 DPI, but in all other cases scaling of Fonts in plug-ins is incorrect.

All modern platforms like iOS, Android, UWP have Pixel specified as a unit by default, so this issue appears on Windows machines only (we have it on Linux as well because of Mono).

Please let me know in case of any related questions. If you are not able to perform changes by yourself - just let me know and I will update plug-ins by myself.

Best regards, Andrey Ivashov.

I have always thought those ones looks weird, especially when they are printed.

- Pi
- Euler's number
- Booelan Equal
- Infinity

It's up to developer to "correct" them anyway. But it is just frustrating to change them in PDF manually Good)

Hello.

What you do not like exactly? Font? Style (bold)? Both?

Best regards.

By taking into consideration of the silence, should I not wait for change for them?

As for pi and e, you can easily get rid of the bold face.
Actually, it would be sufficient to just give pre-defined values an upright face.

In the equations below, the rhs pi and e should be bold, shouldn't they?

I like the idea of the boolean equal being visually different from the evaluation operator
