Greetings all- I know that SMATH uses API's in its internal programming structure, but can it be used to call outside data sources? I was looking at the Applied Technology Council Multi-hazard Design Loads Public API page- https://hazards.atcouncil.org/apiThe intent is to be able to the query design loads for each dataset by latitude and longitude: Wind, Snow, Earthqauke and Siesmic. The page is not entirely clear but it seems to use curl in conjunction with http get to pull the data set of interest. At first glance, this would seem to be only be beneficial to Civil Engineers working on projects in the US (lower 48, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, and the US Virgin Islands), but I would think the the Eurocode and Canadians would not be far off either. But, many datasets and files are manupulated with curl and API keys for security these days. I have used curl to pull & push files to webservers, so the feature is familiar to me, but I did not develop it in those instances, I simply followed a cookbook in those cases to set up my own scripts and use them. I assume as most feature requests, this would probably be a plugin type thing? Dennis |

You can try Script region. Using it you can call an external program (cmd script with curl) and then import data. Using Script region also possible to change the data and "insert" it in SMath worksheet "directly". All of these methods require some programming skills. |
