First of all, again (and again!!) thanks for your work!

Omorr your posts and discussions are really very helpful, thanks for this too!

Regarding the plot and finding roots question, I had a similar problem, a few weeks ago, and solved it with a little function scaling.
So in this case just multiply the function with e.g. 1000 and there will be no problem of locating the roots in the plot. And since you scale just the y-axis the value of x won't change. It is really a simple way around.
Unforunatelly I haven't figured out how to post screens and the live version is not capable of ploting so I can just try to explain it this way.

@ smath:
I don't know if it is really a bug, but if I delete any variable (or text) in Smath Live Mode using the DEL Button a . (Dot) appears somewhere in the page. If I use the Backspace Button to delete it works like expected (so nothing is created).
I can reproduce this issue on Linux and Windows (both with Firefox-browser).

Thanks again!

Ciao Jakob

Ciao Jakob

You are very welcome Jakob,
and thank you for the hint about scaling - simple but very useful Good !
I hope that SMath will have the posibilitie in some subsequent version about separate axis scaling.

Regards,
Radovan

P.S. @smath will need to explain to you how to put the images and other stuf here

Hi smath,
just a little thank for new 0.82 Portable version.
Now all "Xenocode" folder contents is saved into application folder... Wink
For the empty registry key, I think there is nothing to do, but I noticed it just for the sake of completeness (and pedantry...).
Also if you found other bugs (that I wish you to quickly fix), please consider fixed this one.
Best Regards
ZioZione

Ok. But I want to mention, that real 0.82 release will be available in a couple of days. Links here was published to the Release Candidate only - it have some critical GUI bugs, that already fixed in newer internal build.

Hi smath,
yes, of course, I won't intend to use it in a Production environment... Wink
In the meanwhile I just downloaded the latest release... Thank you again!

P.S. If you want to collaborate with winPenPack for a TOTALLY PORTABLE (I mean, without the empty registry key) SMath, through X-Launcher (our universal launcher), you are, of course, welcome... We prefer to deal with Open Source only software, but if you agree with our license I don't think that will be any problem.

Hi

Could you help me with this? I tried to solve this cubic equation

A=solve(x^3+A*x^2+B*x+C=0,x)

where A=5, B=4, C=0, the answer give me only two roots 5 and 0, instead of three. The right answer is -1, 0, 5.

Could you explain me what can I do or what is wrong?

Thanks

I see... BTW also the cloud version gives 3 roots

Yuo can try to check if something is different in the global settings (Tools > Options... > Calculation)

Smath Roots is underdesigned on several counts:

1. The unique Newton-Raphtson does not cope on horizontal/vertical runs of the function
Nothing you can do for two reasons:
1. Smath is very granualar compared to Mathcad 11, 2001i, 8 Pro.
2. Smath does not have TOL, CTOL
3. I figure Smath does not manage Roots because Maxima does not manage.

Suggestion: crack Mathcad 11 root code

Here are your two plots c/w the roots shown on graph.
I have used the 'Solve Quick' in separate sheets not
to confuse solve[f(x),x] with the two differents
search range. Handling graphs are very easy, just a
matter of adjusting each direction [X,Y] separately.
Your solve with bracketed search range is perfect too !

Is that so: 20559 viewed that image solution ?

True, sometimes 'solving' is a bit monkey business.
Read more: in the minute I will attach the Quaternion rotation in "Samples".
It gave me hard time, but works fine enough.

Nice forum "Powered by YAF.NET" ... unbelievable, it works on the click,
not like the dummy PTC Mathcad Community that I shared after Mathsoft Collaboratory.
Mathcad PTC comunity was not accessible or very slow every day between hours
22 and about 02 in the morning and dead during big sport competitions, elections ...
