If during edit of a text region all characters are deleted and the region is empty (e.g. because you want to fix a typo or want to replace the text) then the region disappears and you are either back on the canvas or fall back to other language versions of that region.

This is annoying, because this leads to unintended language switches while editing. In order to resume, you have to open the language version again via context menu.

Proposal: remove empty text region or language version only after the empty region is left.

One more editing convenience issue:

- currently, in text regions you cannot highlight just parts of a word. Markup just expands to the next whitespace. This is annoying if you want to replace just some part of a word.
