Hi,

Whenever I add MPa, GPa or even kN/mm^2 SMath seems to introduce the symbol "s" to the equation which looks to be the software changing it back to kg to do the back end calculations which makes sense. It changes it to kg/(m*s^2)

The problem I have is that when I do the 'Optimise = none' to show all of the values for students, it comes up with the base units which confuses a lot of them. Is there any way of assigning the units for these individual values? So only the kg/(m*s^2) shown on the image attached.

Thanks
Adam

Using a custom unit you could accomplish it, although you have to deal with some extra code if you want even the numerical result.

In this example I've added a whitespace at the end of MPa (using CTRL+K), but it might be another character such as zero-width spaces or using an homoglyph instead of a latin letter (f.e. the cyrillic а in place of latin's a)

A Classroom about units is a delicate session on 3 counts:
1. Maths are unitless except trig [rad]
2. Engineering formulas are in convenient units.
3. Many solvers and other maths must be unitless.

The Unit-System subprocessor is SI ... useful/annoying.

There are two ways of using unit system in simple project.
1. live sub-processing if you multiply the quantity by unit
2. silent by not multiplying ... explain
Pink is live as you can see result in SI
Yellow,is NOT multiplied , 'mm' is simply put in there
then back space 'mm' to see a round place holder instead of rectangular.
In that round place holder, insert mm from the unit panel ,,, see 'mm
Look at silent result 'mm³

So little SI applies to Engineering !
In my times, Mathcad, Matlab, Mathematica were not even pregnant.
Try this example, anything Q, D, mu, rho.
