Hello,

I have been using Smath for the last two years, but only basic stuffs.

Right now, I have a document that's a little bit long and I would like to add a table of contents with the ability to jump to the chapters, like in Word.

Is there a way to achieve this?

Best regards

Not sure what's too long ...
If the table per chapters, then sub-collect.
Please, attach the table imported in Smath.
Cheers ... Jean.

Check for Razonar's replies under this topic.
Here is the link for his last example/sample about your toc request.

Complex documents can be split into individual sm files which can be cross-referenced by text regions with active links.

The interactive handbook is an example of such a document. In the early years this approach required editing of the xml contents of the sm files, based on inspection of Andrey's math reference book.

Davide has provided the Text region utilities plugin, which provides means to edit these links from within SMath Studio. The "toolbox" also provides batch generation of links to all files in a given directory. Unfortunately, this doesn't work any more in recent SMath versions.

At least in build 7579 it worked.

The link text can be generated based on file name (as in the screen shot) or based on title or description from the metadata (File> Properties)

Hi Jean, thank you for your reply, but I am not sure I understood it. Maybe I wasn't clear, I have attached an image of what I pretend.

Hi Razonar, thank you for your reply. I downloaded the file, I think the table of contents is not clickable right? So, I would like to click over some chapter in the Table of Contents and Smath automatically jumps to the page where the chapter is located.

Hi mkraska, thank you for your reply. I saw that option too, thanks. If I don't find a way of doing everything in the same documents, I may do that yes.

Attach your 3 Chapters as 3 clean images from Word.
I will make them brute force accessible.
Cheers ... Jean.

As for now an hyperlink approach like those proposed above is available/useful only if the contents are in different worksheets.

I have to check the recent improvements by Andrey but my latest attempt to implement TOC in WriterRegion wasn't good enough for some limitations, I'll give it another try soon.

In the mean time you have Go to page
from the coded TOC, you can survive/access this demo.
Very easy to sanity QA my for 4 Clients from remote.
BTW, the Mathsoft page hyperlink was tested only, never used
in the Mathsoft Collaboratory over 10 years I shared.
Cheers, best ... Jean.

TOC [4 Clients Model].sm (206kb) downloaded 27 time(s).

This is not a TOC example. This is not even a workaround for a TOC.
I can't even describe what kind of a monstrosity reply this is.
thanks 1 user thanked overlord for this useful post.

This is not a TOC ... a hyperlink to regions of a work sheet.
