Thank you Alvaro, I tried it, it runs very fast, and seeing how you have built your rref function, I will try to shorten mine too. Also great rref for symbolics, didn't think about that.

I see you normally use the range variables, instead of for loops. I like it because I see that it speeds up the function. Thanks for sharing it! Later, I will surely review my rref to evaluate symbolics.

Regards,

Alvaro

Jean, that would be definitively my way to solve an augmented matrix, if I know there will be a solution (m x (m+1) matrix) which is often the case. Even more, I never needed to do rref on a matrix that is not m x (m+1) sized after my linear algebra course, but as students of the subject find it practical to analyze vector spaces, I think there will have a little more general use.

Also, I don't know why it appears that problem in your SMath version. I only use 7030 and sometimes 7251.

Regards,

Alvaro

Thanks Alvaro for sharing the Smath Community.
In your very first rref, you had matrix(0,...)
That is not supported by SS 6179, the remaining needs be re-coded.
Don't worry as the linear algebra solves in many ways,
well explored in "Compactum".
Don't miss "... so much from so little".
New Students as well as Chevron drop dead on that one.
Typo error(s) may be dramatic in real projects !
Cheers ... Jean
