  • An amazing math tool, a must-have for engineers and scientists everywhere. (And it's not bad as a quick expression evaluator, either.)

  • SMath Studio is a great alternative to MathCAD. It is small and portable. I use it primarily for structural engineering calculations and for documenting my work. Many thanks to Andrey and the other developers for this great tool.

  • Found out that this software is as powerful as commercial softwares. Many thanks Andrey.

  • Excellent software, a great job, we must support with financial contributions. Good job Andrey and the sponsors and creators.

  • Great software. Excellent tool for engineering students to make study of complicated problems a breeze. Time need to familiarize is very less as there are good guides prepared for easy use.

  • I have used MathCAD since 1997. Loved it. I used to work for the Nuclear Industry in Canada, and we had these long calculation sheets fully written in MathCAD. As an independent researcher, I also had a student version which I could simply purchase from a campus bookstore as a CD. A few years later, disaster struck! A greedy corporate entity purchased MathCAD and destroyed it. A tool created for engineers by engineers with engineering in mind was destroyed by MBAs with only money in their minds. I was helpless until I discovered SMath. I was amazed at how SMath could do so many things with the installation file being just a few MB! And Andrey simply gave it away to us for free!! SMath has truly filled the void left by the now-extinct "old MathCAD". The fact that SMath is not bloatware and gives us researchers exactly what we need are reasons enough to call Andrey a genius. My dear Andrey, many of us are out there in various parts of the world quietly blessing you for helping us do our research calculations. You are a noble soul with a spirit that cares for a better world. Trust me, you have in your own way made our world a better place to live through SMath. God bless you. I shall surely donate an amount as a symbolic gesture for your great work. Please continue to serve the world and may God bless you with good health, a long life, peace, prosperity, and a sound mind that scientifically contributes for as long as you live and pave the way for your glorious legacy long after we are all gone.

  • Wonderful software, the cloud option is unbeatable for mac users and for using public/shared computers.

  • This has been a great step up from Excel. Extensive (and extensible) support for engineering units opens a new world for well documented everyday analysis. Thank you!

New header-footer option is awesome. This will help me to reduce file sizes a lot.
By the way I noticed the linux and windows versions have layout difference.
Same file opened in SMath (6853) via "Arch Linux" an "Windows 10" has misaligned regions.
Regions under Linux are wider and pictures regions are bigger I guess.
I use cups-pdf to preview under Linux if it will help and I just noticed I can't print to pdf. But I can preview it.

Regards.

On this latest version (mono), when selecting the units, the box only fills with the first. when required to use a different unit you can move down, but nothing is shown apart from the help/hint box.The Linux version i am using is Mint 18.3.

There is no "Field" entry in the Text_Eng.lang file (for Insert> Field).

Thank you for great formatting updates!

May I place a request please? It is often useful to record a date calculation page was created on. Is it possible to have a date field that is updated only when it is created or copy pasted instead of being continiously updated when file is opened or reloaded?

Thanks!

In the meantime, You could manually achieve this by right-clicking date field and choosing "disable evaluation" after the file is created the first time. Re-enable, reevaluate sheet, then disable anytime you recopy file or want to update the field. .

Interesting request, but between the moment a work sheet is first created
and the last saving [dozen and dozen times saved], the first time saved
has no more meaning: is it ?
Windows timestamp [hover on sheet name] is the last saved.
Print preview page header is the actual time

Hi,

I know the limitations for importing Mathcad files. I have used it in the last couple of months without much trouble to partially import old mathcad sheets.

But, i get this error with the latest version: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

Thanks!

I observed the same error with the same Smath Studio version on Windows 8.1 (German). The message appears in German:
"Der Objektverweis wurde nicht auf eine Objektinstanz festgelegt".

Should I try to reinstall version 0.99.6839 - Stable (released at 2018-09-22) - recommended?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Regards,
Mustafa

Just an update to the above error message. I uninstalled the latest beta version and installed the last stable version 0.99.6839. The problem was solved. I can open/import Mathcad files (.xmcd).

Thank you for the report. Issue is fixed now. Fix will be available into the next beta release.

Best regards!
